A found sound, tape-loop improvised performance in response to the surroundings at Rooted Community Gardens in association with SOUND AND MUSIC and BACK TO OURS.
RESONANCE is a performance by Hull based composer and sound artist Stewart Baxter with guests Stephanie Halsey (harp) and Mark Slater (piano). Bringing together found sounds gathered by Stewart, Mark and young people from around Hull and within Rooted Community Gardens.
This performance celebrates those sounds using various tape loops, prepared piano loops, and manipulation to bring them to life within the space. Over a number on months Stewart has been recording and collecting sounds from around Hull using contact mics, underwater hydrophones and his phone, using this as a meditation and act of self-care as well as a chance to reconnect with his surroundings.
Resonance creates an environment inspired by the sound bed created, and leaves space for improvised musical performance.
